Advanced Portfolio Technologies started in 1985, when Prof. John Blin and Steven Bender began to develop the APT System in New York - at that time a pure equity risk model. In 1987 APT launched its first US hedge fund managed using the APT System. Currency and Japanese stock funds followed, and the company began to expand its business in Europe and Asia.
Today, APT is still a privately-held company, has a strong financial base, a consistently growing customer list, and a higher proportion of R&D to 'sales and admin' staff than is typical.
